SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School begins at 9:15 AM every Sunday, from September to May. Individually graded classes are held for children age 3 through 8th grade. The Augsburg Witness Curriculum is used to acquaint children with the Bible stories and how God wants us to live.
We have a full staff of teachers and assistants who volunteer their faith experience and skills to serve our enrolled children. Young adults assist as music leaders with younger classes. Children receive their First Holy Communion at the end of their second grade year after a period of instruction. In October of their ninth grade year, children reaffirm their Baptisms (Confirmation) after two years of classes, guidance and faith exploration with their teachers and the pastor.
Our Sunday School children participate in many special activities, including:
- Teddy Bear Sunday – Children take a teddy bear to dress. The dressed bears are blessed by the pastor on a specified Sunday before being distributed by the Confirmation Class and our youth groups at one of the nursing homes in the area. We share this ministry with youth from other local Lutheran churches.
- Lenten Bulletin Covers – Bulletin covers for the Sundays in Lent are designed by our Sunday School classes, based upon their interpretation of the scripture reading for that Sunday.
- Christmas Pageant – One Sunday in December, the boys and girls present the annual Christmas Pageant during worship service.
- Family Sunday – Once a month, October to May, all Sunday School students lead worship with the pastor, with younger children singing an anthem they have learned and older children reading lessons and assisting with prayers.
Contact the Church Office to register your child or with any questions about our Sunday School.
BIBLE STUDY
Various Bible study groups meet during the year to focus on select areas of the Bible or special topics. Call the office for details.
CONFIRMATION CLASSES
Starting in 7th Grade, children prepare for Confirmation with special classes led by the pastor, in addition to regular Sunday School classes. Candidates for Confirmation explore beyond Bible stories to develop a deeper understanding of God’s Word and love for us and to understand the tenets of the Lutheran Church. As a group and individually, candidates wrestle with questions of faith, most of which are common to us all. In October of 9th Grade, candidates celebrate their Confirmation with the entire congregation during Sunday worship.
Grace education ministries extend to the community with a vibrant Christian-based preschool, New Beginnings. Our preschool provides a caring nurturing environment that serves today’s families and their busy lives. We also offer secular camp programs for children ages 2-½ to 11 during summer months.

Plans to expand with after-school programs for enrichment and academic excellence, and to launch programs for specially-abled children are underway.
